CUTIES DON'T DIE

Monster Trainer Game - Gameplay Programmer, 2d Artist

Created for Ludum Dare 46 2020, I worked alone on the project and created the sprite art and all scripts in 72 hours with Unity C# and Gimp. Cuties Don't Die is a monster training game centred around catching, healing, and battling with monsters found in the wild, and against trainers encountered throughout. There are 18 unique Cuties to catch and train, an expansive environment with a saveable storage system, full sound, and a level curve across 40 levels.

GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER AND DESIGNER

There's a basic defend/attack system with variable stats and leveling up for every creature. There are 18 unique creatures with varying stats, if including evolutions. There are various areas with differing creatures, trainers to fight against, as well as an rpg style simple dialogue system.

2D ARTIST

All the 2d pixel art was made during the jam in GIMP by me, including the 18 unique creature designs. The art uses a restricted colour pallet, with 4 colours plus alpha for the monsters, and 4 colours plus alpha for the background.

SAVE SYSTEM PROGRAMMER

The game is capable of saving the players creatures, inventory, their box system with their spare creatures, the trainer's states, and the position of the player within the world
